On the west side of the lake is a small airport. It has a grass runway and a pier for the amphibian aircraft. It is not large enough for large aircraft; only two engine propeller planes and smaller can land on the short runway.

Only three aircraft has this airport as a home base, the ambulance helicopter and two amphibian aircraft flying tourists. Originally, there was only one tourist flyer. When the other moved in, there was a lot of competition between them, almost bankrupting them both. Eventually, however, they agreed to raise the prices and enjoy the fact that they didn’t have to work full days. When the big tourist boom hit, business was big for both of them and today they are the best of friends.

Though small, the airport is an important hub of the area, since quite a lot of people in the outer villages have their own aircraft, which they use to get into town.
