Razor Ridge hospital was built in 1948, after the mine closed and with it the mine hospital, which up to then had been the only hospital in town. The mine hospital was a barely adequate hospital anyway, so something new was needed anyway. The hospital has grown over the years, and is a fairly large hospital, well equipped with good staff. It has a heliport, since it also serves the northern villages.
