Year 539
A new Council of Spheres is formed, loosely based on the principles of the old. Much has changed, however.

Many Spheres have succumbed during the Scattering, unable to survive without supplies from other spheres. Of the original Spheres, only 1038 remain, less than a quarter.

Technology has withered due to the small populations of the Spheres not being able to uphold the advanced knowledge and production facilities needed in a time where the focus had to be on survival. The technology level is equivalent to the era according to 1940 to 2000 according to the old calendar on Terra Prime, with certain specialities for each Sphere reaching 10-20 years further ahead.

Many Spheres have become dictatorships of some kind or fallen to extreme religious teachings.

In short, the humanity once united in a common ancestry is now a divided people. Alliances quickly build in the Council of Spheres, gathering similar Spheres in unsteady alliances and weaker Spheres supporting the stronger Spheres for protection and political leverage.

Year 544
The Council of Spheres, while doing some good work, is mostly locked in bickering and intrigues.

The Spheres once again have troubles adjusting to new circumstances. Instead of lack of trade, the problem is now the fear of foreign influence. The Spheres now tend to guard their specialities in science and technology and are very cautious of foreign ideologies. The situation is in many ways a cold war, where the sides are constantly manoeuvring for a better position.

Year 546
The first successful interstellar war in the history of mankind is waged. An alliance of Spheres led by YYY surprisingly launches an attack on WWW, a minor Sphere. There is uproar in the Council, but no action is taken and WWW remains occupied. War is once again a tool in the political arsenal.

Year 550
Mankind is in the process of drawing battle lines and finding out who will stand on which side. The Spheres are preparing for a war they hope will not happen.

The Council of Spheres, while basically a good thing, is not an openhearted happy family anymore. The Reunion is more like a cease-fire than a brotherhood of man.
